iCBCT Anatomy will let you learn different anatomical structures depicted on Cone Beam CT slices in different orthogonal views (Axial, Coronal, and Sagittal). The slices are labeled on one half and colors were applied to differentiate different anatomical structures on the other half resembling an anatomy atlas. It is also a nice tool for patient education and communication.

New Feature: Zoom! You can now use two finger pinch to zoom-in/zoom-out in all of the slices. This will make it easier to view the anatomical structures and read the labels. Click Fit button to restore the view to its original zoom level.

The iCBCT Anatomy app is available for purchase on iTunes store. The update is available for free to all current iCBCT Anatomy users. Get it here.
You can also search for cbct in your iPhone or iPod Touch and you’ll find it. Please if you like the app don’t forget to leave us a positive feedback!

QuickTime VR 360 is introduced into Marcilan for the first time. Using QTVR for visualizing pathology is a novel idea, although you lose some information going to volume from 2D slices but you gain extra spacial information , better correlation and appreciation of the radiographic features, and an excellent patient communication.

This is unprecedented; as QTVR allows you to navigate the volumetric data as if you were using sophisticated 3D visualization software. You can navigate by using your mouse and keyboard. Besides it is cheap, easy to share, and fast to produce using Osirix open-source software on the Mac platform. The first disease to benefit from this is Basal cell nevus syndrome (Case03). Volume render tends to produce holes in the area where there is too much thinning of the cortical boundaries even when adjusting 16 bit CLUT (Color LUT) parameters and window leveling. Simply put, it is not the best rendering modality suited for this task. However, MIP was fantastic in presenting the ultra thin cortical borders in 3D without such problems and proved to be the best.

Osirix Volume MIP render was used to render a MIP QTVR 360 movie with a file size of only 2.0 MB! QTVR movies will be attached it at the end of the report. This should help users on the lower end of the bandwidth to navigate through the gallery easily (Improve accessibility). I also put a 3D cube icon on the thumbnail as a visual cue to let the users know that this gallery has 3D features. If you have comment or feedback let us know.

There are only two tests available we borrowed from the previous website. You can access the assessment from the sidebar. The objectives of the correlation test is to help you correlate different anatomical structures present on different 2D orthogonal planes to the patient 3D head. The structures identification test on the other hand will test your knowledge of identifying different anatomical landmarks present on a CBCT scan. At the end of each test you will get feedback regarding your performance in the test and it is possible to review the quiz.

Enjoy!

Cone Beam CT Multi-Planar Correlative Anatomy

Welcome to the multiplanar correlative anatomy. This module will help you identify any anatomical landmarks on both the three-dimensional (3D) reconstructed image and the corresponding orthographic views (axial, coronal and sagittal) while correlating between the different views. The scan data set was obtained using an i-CAT CBCT machine. A descriptive text is provided with the radiographic appearance for that particular structure.

Instructions:

Select the view you want to see by clicking the buttons: Perspective, Inferior, or Mid-Sagittal on top. Normally the default view will be the perspective view. You can select structures by clicking on the structure name under the structures list . The structure will be highlighted on the 3D reconstructed image and the three orthographic views will be updated. You can hover your cursor on the orthographic images (Axial, coronal, and sagittal) to view more relevant surrounding structures. Move the cursor outside the image boundaries and the image will revert back to its original status. or best visual experience, we suggest you go and click the full screen button which will put you in an immersive environment. To exit from the full screen mode at any time, click on the window button or hit ESC button on your keyboard.

Requirements:

Adobe Flash player is required to launch the module. Please upgrade your Flash player to the latest version by visiting this link. Javascripts should be enabled in your browser. If you have any problems viewing the module or you have feedback, please use the contact us form.
